Are you at risk for getting skin cancer?

Genetic and Inherited Risk

  • Family history of skin cancer or melanoma

  • Fair or light complexion

  • Red hair

  • Many moles

Environmental Risk

  • A lot of sun and UV exposure

    • Outdoor work, like farming or building

    • Outdoor recreation

    • Had sun burns that blistered when young

    • Use or have used sunbeds regularly

  • Immuno-suppression (especially organ transplant patients)

  • Radiotherapy or other radiation exposure

Consider having an annual skin check if these apply to you and keep an eye out for the following symptoms

  • New or changing coloured spots

  • A growing lump or lumps

  • Non-healing sores

  • Scaly and/or red patchy skin
